Join the SOAW spring days of action April 14 - April 18 to raise awareness about the harm caused by the drug war

As you probably already know, SOA Watch is heading to Nogales, Arizona/Sonora this October for our first Border Mobilization. We are very excited to be making preparations for this major mobilization to the U.S./Mexico border, but before that, we also want you to come build community and speak truth to power with us in Washington, DC for the Spring Days of Action from April 14-18.

Join us this Spring for protest, music, grassroots lobbying, and to welcome the Peace, Life, and Justice Caravan when it arrives in Washington DC after traveling through Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, and the U.S./Mexico border to raise awareness of the immense harm caused by the endless Drug War.

The Drug War exacerbates so many of the most urgent crises in the U.S. and Latin America - the Central American Refugee crisis, forced migration, mass incarceration, police brutality, militarization at home & abroad, and the epidemic of enforced disappearances in Mexico – yet we have largely failed to build the coalitions necessary to bring an end to the devastating policies of what is actually a War on the People of the Americas. Why do the Pentagon, DEA, FBI, ICE, and other U.S. agencies squander billions of U.S. taxpayer dollars to arm and train tens of thousands of Mexican and Central American security forces that are linked to the drug trade and human rights abuses? What are the results of this increased militarization? Why does impunity continue to reign in the region, including in the high profile Ayotzinapa disappearances? What moral authority does the U.S. have to train any police force, given the history of oppression by its own police forces?

We will address these questions and provide you with the most up-to-date research and other tools to be able to confidently demand that our elected leaders cease funding and training of abusive security forces in Latin America, respect the human rights of refugees and migrants, and Close the SOA!
